The background watcher runs as the name implies in the background and checks unwanted file access in real time. If the watcher is activated it continuously searches for unwanted, potentially dangerous software that is trying to install itself on your system. To indicate if the on-access scanner (guard) is active an icon is displayed in the lower right corner of your taskbar. If the icon displays a red cross (see pict.), the on-access guard is inactive, whereas a green checkmark indicates that the on-access guard is active and delivers comprehensive protection for your system. Use right mouse click on taskbar icon to open up a context menu with the most vital program options. The options menu contains all general settings from the start menu as well as the guards settings itself.

We advise to always leave the background watcher activated!

When the Background Guard  detects a suspicious activity, an alert window appears on your screen. This dialog includes information, concerning the type of threat, the filename and the location, that allows you to make an decision about whether to allow or to block the found threat to complete.

You may apply the additional watcher setting by opening the menu using a right click on the watcher system tray icon. Within this menu you can define if the watcher is suppose to start automatically on startup of your windows system. Furthermore you may define in what time intervals signature updates are being downloaded from the signature update servers as well what additional file types should be searched for. After the installation of the application *.exe files are examined by default by the watcher. Weather or not the watcher is enabled may also be viewed in the main dialog of the application.
